Facilities

Miramar is located in the charming seaside town of Duxbury, MA, some 35 miles south of Boston and 20 miles north of Cape Cod. Our historic ship owner’s estate, overlooking Kingston Bay, is surrounded by rolling lawns, magnificent gardens and pristine views of sky and sea. The house, with its history of a bygone era, blends the old with a contemporary updated bedroom wing, dining room and conference hall added in the early 1980’s. The colonial style structure features many antique fireplaces along with a blend of different types of wood, imported from all over the world in the late 19th century for use in the floors and paneling. A modern kitchen, run by professional chefs, provides appetizing meals for all. The retreat house staff prides itself in offering warm New England hospitality to all who come to our doors.
Miramar Retreat Center has 30 rooms. All of the rooms have private baths and two single beds. Each room has closet type space for two, a fan, desk and comfortable chair. The bedroom wing does not have air-conditioning, but this is provided in the chapel, conference rooms and dining room. The rooms are newly renovated, with walls decorated in soft, muted shades of peach, complemented by teal carpeting. The chapel, originally designed as a ballroom, has tile flooring, stained glass windows, excellent acoustics and cedar woodwork throughout. After more than sixty years as the heart of prayer and adoration in the retreat center, one enters the chapel sensing it is truly Holy Ground.
The Fr. Ford Center - named after the first SVD director of the Miramar Retreat House – is the latest addition to our facilities. It has two moderate size conference rooms on the main and lower levels, and one small meeting room on the main floor. It is fully air conditioned with all modern conveniences needed for groups between forty and sixty participants who do not require an over-night stay.
